Mostly a vent… big kids are expensive! We’re not doing anything crazy like travel sports, but rec sports, music lessons, niche day camps and sleepaway camps add up. We had a sweet spot in early elementary school where we were saving a bundle by not paying for daycare and activity costs were still minimal, but now in mid-upper elementary I’m pretty sure we’re getting close to or even exceeding the cost of daycare on a per kid basis (I haven’t had the mental fortitude to add it all up).

The posters who I still think about from time to time are the poster whose husband wouldn’t let her daughter ride the bus (still wonder why), and it was causing OP to have to twist herself in pretzels to get her child to school, and the poster who was upset at the restaurant for asking her overserved husband to leave. Hope both of you are doing okay.

I’m so frustrated with trying to outsource things. I know this is a first world problem but I’m drowning in work and I tried to set up one of these meal services and for whatever reason it just didn’t get delivered. Now I spent ages tracking it, then on the phone with the customer service and it won’t come today anymore and no one’s home tomorrow. Before, I tried to set up a cleaner and the first one wasn’t good. The second one was great but then changed her schedule and can now only on weekends. And the whole idea was to save time and now I’ve spent lots of time coordinating all this stuff and nothing has worked out. I wish I could just get this stuff up and running!
What would you wear to an interview at a private middle and high school? And what would you put your daughter in? I really want this to work, it’s the only school we found which isn’t using electronic devices for everything all the time… Would appreciate any tips!
