If you have lost weight while in a house with young girls and did not give them a complex or body image issues, what was your strategy?

(The weight loss is necessary for health reasons. I have calorie tracked in the past without issue, but I’m not comfortable with my girls seeing me weigh foods, etc.)

I’m pretty sure it was a rec from here, so a big thank you to whoever suggested the Waldorf in Chicago. We just got back from a couples trip there and it was so nice — gorgeous rooms, fabulous service, great spa — at a much lower price point than places like the Langham. Will definitely be our go-to for future trips into the city.

Would recommend that anyone being told their kid needs to be evaluated for ADHD first read this article https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/13/magazine/adhd-medication-treatment-research.html

If you fill out the personal money snapshot form, can you see the results? I scrolled through previous Personal Money Snapshots, but didn’t see what I’m looking for. Trying to find comps for base salary for HCOL (coastal city), F500 director level executive (full P&L of $200-500M). I know equity and bonus comes into play but I am specifically looking at base.

Ok, a flip question on ND. Does anyone have kids they think are ND, but aren’t pursuing a diagnosis? And if so, why?

I often think one of my kids is ND, but it hasn’t been raised by school/ped/other adults in their lives (even when I ask), DH doesn’t seem to think so, and isn’t currently causing any challenges (he functions fine in his classroom environment), so we are not pursuing an eval at this time. We have plugged him into therapies as needed to help with delays/giving him a push where needed.

Did anyone just refuse the early glucose screening? They’re telling me they want me to do it three times and just like, no?

What is the normal recovery time for a cold for an adult? Every single time I get a cold, I have a fever for 4-5 days and have symptoms that linger for at least 2-3 weeks. This doesn’t seem right.

Do you find relationships with other elementary school parents tough to navigate? I have a kindergartener and I am finding all of the birthday parties and end of the year events exhausting in a way I never did with daycare. The parents are nice but many of them are really intense (I posted earlier in the week about parents talking about calling the principal with teacher preferences, that kind of thing). A woman I barely know recently told me her kiddos test scores in conversation. Idk. It’s just kind of tough to navigate.

Do any other posters know or suspect their parent is neurodivergent? I saw a poster yesterday admitting she doesn’t enjoy her mons conversation style. Curious how this compares to our many discussions of special needs kids.

I never know which situation calls for a hug, and Covid really affected my judgment on this. Today was the last day of the lead aide in DS’ preschool classroom. She has been with DS for over two years. I gave her a card and gift and should have given her a hug, but I didn’t. Now I am going to be thinking about it all day.

We have a Bright Horizons backup care benefit through work. I feel like I’ve read negative feedback about that here though. Has anyone used it recently?

Any thoughts on the Nuna Rava convertible car seat? It’s almost time to upgrade and we want something that’s super easy to use, has good safety (we live in a very busy urban area with lots of highway driving), and no added flame ret@rdants. That seems to point to this seat. Any big cons I should be aware of, besides price?

My son turned three in late February. He’s a very curious little boy with tons of energy. He is at a Montessori school in a class with other two and three year olds. His teacher lrecently talked to me about getting him tested for adhd. I told her it’s a possibility, but I think he’s too young to be tested. She pushed back and said she knew places that tested at his age. Honestly I don’t have an issue with him potentially being diagnosed, hopefully we would work on managing it in the best way possible for him. I do have a problem with pushing for testing now.

I wanted to ask if anyone had experience with this. Even if we do test him now what treatment options would be available for a three year old? I’m not sure what would be achieved by not waiting a year or two.

How old are your kids and what percentage of your days with them involve 0 whining/complaining/ arguing, etc.
