When we’re stuck inside, out come the arts and crafts kits. Here is a paint-by-number kit just for adults.
Each kit includes everything you need to create four 8″ x 12″ paintings: numbered canvases, brushes, bright acrylic paints, and hanging hardware. No art degree necessary! Instead of doomscrolling my phone, I’ll relax and unwind by tapping into my inner Mary Cassatt.
This paint-by-number kit starts at under $25 on Amazon. It comes in nine versions, ranging from flowers to cityscapes.

I am very good at keeping my cool when my ASD, ADHD, PDA kid is melting down. And for a fun one, I have had a feeling when my friends have gone into labor and texted them while they were in the early stages of labor / just getting to the hospital without knowing / before they texted they were in labor.
What’s your mom flex? I’ll go first. I can sense an ear infection from a mile away. Not just in my kids, but other as well. I feel like an ear infection whisperer. Haha.
Can we please swap silly work/kid stories? It’s Friday and I’m cranky so I could use a laugh.
Yesterday I was bargaining opposite an attorney I would guess was in his 70s. Mid discussion he starts making a ton of noise, apparently oblivious to how disruptive it was. We all kind of stop and look, and he sheepishly explains he was trying to re-open a document that had coffee spilled on it and had dried the pages together. It was ridiculous but honestly cut the tension because no one could help but laugh.
My toddler is also at the age where things are very silly. Right now she loves the small parachute we have, and laughs so hard if I “hide” under it. The best.
Any tips for getting a 14-month-old to stop pinching and scratching me? “Gentle hands!” isn’t doing anything and he’s too young for big explanations or timeouts. It isn’t always feasible for me to walk away – if he’s on the changing table, for example.
Invited a friend and her family over for Souper Sunday this weekend. And now I realised she is expecting some sort of American-themed football event… Surprise, we’re having ramen and spring rolls.
What is the right expectation in terms of table manners for a 7yo? We have been trying to patiently teach DS good table manners. But every night, I feel like I’m Beauty in “Beauty and the Beast”. We’ve made some progress in terms of DS using silverware and wanting to cut his own food, but the end result is basically the same as when he’s eating with his hands: food everywhere. He’s just so oblivious. How do people teach this?! We now do mostly drop-off playdates and I just know any snacks/ meals will be a disaster. Sigh.
Hi CB! Yesterday was crazy and I didn’t get around to posting a burner when the post went up. You can reach me at jmarieua10 [at] gmail [dot] com. Thanks!
To the poster who responded about Yoto headphones to my late in the day question – do you have the wired or wireless version? The wireless seem like a good idea, but the ratings are lower.
What’s more important to you, money or prestige and job satisfaction?
Would you prefer a role that pays less but is a job you love, has substantial advancement opportunity and stability, uses your education and natural skills, and is well-respected? Or a role that is none of those things but pays twice as much? (Think, 90k vs 180k).
