During my last vacation, I dropped my deodorant on the floor and it shattered into a dusty mess, so I need a new one.
Salt & Stone’s mini deodorant discovery set will keep my toiletry bag stocked for a while. This set includes five luxe deodorants in santal & vetiver, bergamot & hinoki, neroli & basil, black rose & oud, and saffron & cedar. These deodorants are also designated “Clean at Sephora,” so they don’t include ingredients like parabens, sulfates, phthalates, and mineral oils.
This mini deodorant set is $44 at Sephora (a $60 value).

Hi moms. Seeking advice/encouragement. My son is 20 months old and I want to start trying for a second when he turns 2. I love being a mom so so much, and more than I thought I would! At the same time, I’m really struggling with managing my job and my life even just with one child. Furthermore, I am finding myself much more unmotivated at work these days (even more so than when my son was a baby-he’s so fun now comparatively!). I guess I’m just wondering, how do others manage through this time in life? Pull back at work somewhat? Im a partner at my firm—my role is high intensity and going part time is not an option. My husband works a high stress job as well. I guess just one of us has to pull back or change jobs, right? it’s just a very hard pill to swallow when we worked so hard to get to where we are in our careers. It’s a Monday morning and I’m just feeling so drained by the week ahead preemptively.
Any dance moms here? I did not grow up dancing really at all, and my daughter (7YO) is pretty into ballet. She attends class at a local studio in NYC; the instructors are all at least former dance majors at college, some former professional dancers. But, this being NYC, I have a wealth of options up to SAB. I am wondering if there is anything I should keep in mind in regard to picking a studio if she gets serious about it? (setting aside if she’s good enough to get into SAB or similar – I have no idea, given I know next to nothing about ballet).
Clearing out a play area in the basement for kindergarteners/early elementary, and I’m looking for ideas for storing art supplies. We have a table and easel, but right now the paper, stamps, markers, crayons, stickers, etc. are stored in random places around the house. Trying to balance easy accessibility while keeping most of the spiders out. Thank you!
My husband and I are planning on putting in an offer on a house and now I’m getting cold feet. It’s beautiful, historic, great location… and a huge fixer upper. We have different ideas on how much we’re willing to fix. My husband wants to do all the nice to haves (at least eventually). I would rather have the financial freedom of spending very reasonably on our house and don’t want to be pouring our money and time/labor into it.
Ugh, what do you guys think?
my elementary schoolers are participating in girl scouts for the first time and we live in Houston. They will need sleeping bags, so we’d like to get them for them as a holiday gift. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Lice update: THANK YOU for all your advice on Friday! So, we found the lice on my 9yo on Thursday, and that night I did at-home treatments for everyone, and made an appt for the clinic on Saturday morning. On Saturday, I screened all of us and we were all clear except for her (which makes sense — she has super long, thick hair that is just a real challenge to comb through so I’m not surprised I didn’t catch all the eggs).
The lice clinic people were SO thorough and kind and really did give me a lot of peace of mind. If/when this happens again, I think I’ll again do to the at-home treatments first to reduce costs — it’s $200 for the clinic treatment (it comes with a follow-up after a week). The clinic people said that the at-home treatment (which kills lice but not always eggs) is also helpful because only live lice can go between heads, so it reduces the chance of spread before you can get to the clinic. Screenings were $25 each. I do think I originally had lice too but got rid of them with the home treatment (we did dimethicone, which is they said is more effective).
Anyway, thanks again and Spirograph, I hope you got all your son’s out and that the rest of the family was clear!
