I grew up wearing turtlenecks all winter, so this grown-up version naturally caught my eye.

This timeless turtleneck is made from 100% merino wool. This traditional piece is updated with a roll-neck collar and raw edges. The slim fit makes it perfect for layering under jackets, cardigans, or even dresses.

COS’ Merino Wool Turtleneck Top is $79. In addition to black, it comes in eight other colors/patterns (some lucky sizes only). It comes in sizes XS-L.

If you prefer a slightly looser fit, consider this one from Banana Republic Factory for $42 that’s available in sizes XS-XXL.

I am in a bit of a predicament and not sure how to handle this situation. My dad is on hospice, we really aren’t sure how long he has to live and the hospice staff are not able to give us a timeline. We live close to my parents and I see my dad multiple times a week and so do my kids.

I would like to move forward with planning a vacation with my husband and 2 kids this summer despite the uncertainty of my dad’s situation. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did you take a vacation closer to home just incase you had to come back? Did you wait to take a trip until after your loved ones passing? Did you find that your nerves were too frazzled to even plan a trip? I hope this doesn’t come across as selfish…but I think it is important to prioritize making memories with my husband and kids despite the tough situation with my dad.

My husband came home last night from a 10 day work trip and told me this morning that he got his seventh conference invite for 2025. 🫠
I feel like I’m drowning. We only have one kid in elementary so I feel like I don’t have the right to complain about solo parenting because it’s not logistically challenging the way it would be with multiple babies or toddlers (although his travel is mostly in the summer, which is harder on me than him going away during the school year), but as many of you know it’s still lonely and tiring, and all the time away is starting to affect our kid as well. Most academics we know who get this many conference invites seem to turn some of them down, but he doesn’t want to and I hate being in the role of the b1tch wife nagging him to turn opportunities. Oof.

what are you getting your kids for any upcoming holiday? I’m specifically shopping for Christmas but I’ll take all the inspo.

what is the best way to explain to kids about people with disabilities/special needs? and what is the proper terminology to use? we will be volunteering somewhere that services this community and I want to do my best to prep them in advance.

I’ve posted about considering getting a dog in the past. I find having a dog really boosts my mental and physical health, since the habits of caring for a dog naturally lead me to better self-care. Additionally, the unconditional love hits right where I need it, based in my family history. However, I work full time and my son is turning 1 soon, so there’s no way I could get the time to train a new dog. But my husband is starting a new job that involves A LOT of travel this coming year, and I really want to be able to have some companionship besides the toddler, who isn’t exactly good company. Am I insane to be considering those really expensive puppy training camps? There’s the question of “does it even work?” and also I feel bad even considering spending that much money on a dog. But it feels like it’s that or wait until I’m done having kids to get a dog, which could be years.

Happy Wednesday, everyone! My parents are staying with us for a few weeks and our daughter is temporarily not going to daycare because my parents are taking care of her while we work from home upstairs. I can hear her playing and talking (and calling for mama!) and I am having such a hard time concentrating at work, argh.

It’s only a few weeks, so it’ll be okay, but I want to go spend time with her when I can hear her. Aaah.

I’m not sure if this is a question or I’m just looking for affirmation. I’m trying to finish up Christmas shopping for my 7th grade son nd my 4-year-daughter. He is all the sudden become very easy to shop for. He’s really into clothes, cologne, hair products, it’s pretty hilarious actually. I have a lot of ideas for her, but I also know she’s getting a ton of stuff from extended family members. I have some wrapped puzzles and books for her, and the same Nike socks he is getting which will be fun for her. I keep thinking I need to get something a little more fun to go with her gift and make things a little more even. But the reality is she’s going to get a ton of stuff and we don’t need more plastic in our house. I’ve been trying to come up with something she needs that she would enjoy, but nothing is really coming to mind. I’m a little hesitant about stopping now because things feel pretty uneven between the two of them. Any thoughts or ideas? Do I get something else just to get it, do I make it fun or practical? Practical? I was thinking about new flannel sheets for her because she likes her brothers but that also does not feel that fun.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a decent cooler for transporting pumped milk and bottles for day outings? I won’t need it for work since I work from home, but we need something to enable getting out of the house. Would probably need to bring 2 to 3 bottles of pumped milk from home for his feedings and transport 1-3 bottles of freshly pumped milk back as well, plus space for pump parts.

Silly question, but how long should my kids snow bibs be? I bought some stuff on sale in summer and I’m worried my 5 year olds ski bibs are too long and my 7 year olds are too short. Without shoes or with sneakers, can you help me understand the ideal length? Also, we are skiing Friday Saturday then again on a Monday. Do I need two ski bibs per kid or can we just dry out and wear the same one bib for all 3 days? It looks like you can’t really put these through the washing machine? I do plan to have two thermals per kid though and 2 pairs of socks each.

Also, what kinds of boots and clothes do they need when we’re walking around in town? Just regular thermals + jeans and warm weather gear? What kinds of shoes?

I live in a very warm climate that rarely gets snow. Thank you!!

Anyone else crawling over the finish line til winter break?

I spent 5 days away, ended up doing a tour of Germany to get home after an ATC failure, and came home to find my son in tears b/c the girl who has been aggressive to him all term pushed him to the ground and kicked him IN THE CLASSROOM. Really at my wits end with the school.

We fly to my parents on Friday, my son is heading off with them, and my husband and I are staying in the city to celebrate my 40th birthday, so there’s an end in sight but it feels like a long 48 hours to get through.
