I absolutely love plaid for fall! I find a plaid accessory like this bag lends some personality to my typical neutral-hued look.

This fun (and functional) structured tote is fully lined and features a bridge clip closure and top carry handles as well as an adjustable crossbody strap and interior zip pockets. It’ll hold everything you need for your daily commute.

Kate Spade New York’s Large Manhattan Grand Plaid Tote is $498 at Nordstrom.

I remember seeing adds for a device that did video calls and was suppose to be really easy to use. Does anyone know the name of it? I would like to start having routine video calls between my kids and my mom, but she is very technologically incapable. So I’m lookin for something very simple.

it literally hasn’t rained where i live in weeks and while we do need the rain, does it have to be on Thursday?!?

Not sure if this is the venue, but parent posts here are now showing up reverse chronologically (i.e. newest at the top) for me, with no option to change the order. Replies to parent comments remain chronological (i.e. oldest at the top).

I just got quasi-demoted at work. I’m not having my pay cut or a title change (for now) but they’ve replaced all my duties with heaps of low level admin work. It was presented to me as a choice but when I said a slightly more tactful “actually I prefer the old duties” I was told “oh you can still do them if you have time, they just won’t count towards promotion or evaluation and you will still have a full workload of new duties.” So basically I can do my old job for fun in my free time?! Um, no thanks.

To make matters worse, our annual in person retreat begins tonight. I’m fully remote and have to see people for the first time in a year a couple hours after this news was dropped on me. I really wish they could have done it on a Friday so I would have had the weekend to clear my head.

I know the answer is find a new job and… I’m trying. It’s been tough due to some personal constraints. Anyone have any other advice? Or been through something similar and have happy stories? I have thought seriously about quitting to stay home since my husband is the breadwinner and we’d be fine on his salary alone. But my salary allows for a lot of fun spending that I’d really miss, as materialistic as that sounds.

Any recs for fertility clinics in NYC?
Preferably downtown manhattan or Brooklyn, associated with NYU, and take insurance, but flexible on the first two and I can check the latter myself.

Looking for a Xmas present for my nephew who is 13. Interests are playing soccer and starting to get into basketball. Will be going to Cancun with family after Xmas. In the past I got him a Messi jersey and jersey to our local soccer club and he liked both. Maybe a silver chain? Where can you get a good quality chain? Any other ideas? Budget is $50-$80

I am looking for bath bombs for kids that are multicolored and are as fun as the Lush bath bombs, but aren’t as pricey (or as big). Anyone tried some that they like? Or any alternatives to bath bombs that make bathtime fun for my four-year old?

We’re considering getting a second bassinet for safe naps downstairs. Any recommendations for something not too expensive and convenient for use near a couch? Our baby was born early in the six pound range so I expect we can get some decent use out of it when he comes home from the hospital.

My kid just got her first birthday party invitation from someone from her daycare class, and I have no idea who they are or what they like, so what impersonal gifts are good for a five year old girl?

is it not nice to host a Hanukkah party and only invite our Jewish friends? for some backstory, growing up my parents hosted huge Hanukkah parties (even before I was born), but I attended a Jewish school and most of their friends were people they met through us kids or my dad’s college friends (who were also Jewish). Now we live in a different area of the country. and this is our 3rd year hosting the party Our twins attended a Jewish preschool and last year started kindergarten in public school. We hosted the party last year and only invited Jewish friends, but they’d only been in K for a couple of months. We primarily invited families from their preschool (we are trying to maintain those friendships), sunday school, some of our friends and three Jewish families from their new school. This year they each have two additional Jewish families in their classes, who I’d like to include as well. I tend to like to be a very inclusive person as evidenced by the fact that last year we invited 113 people to this party (74 people came) and we are really pushing our limits space wise. we live in an area where we are definitely a minority, which is different than how DH and I grew up and it is important to us for us to foster our kids’ jewish identity, but i also don’t love the idea of excluding someone on the basis of religion. thoughts?

Suggestions for Chelsea boots for boys? Likely need a size 7 or 8.

Blundstones were our preferred option but the kids sizes stop at size 4 and I’d like to avoid paying the full price for adult ones when the boys feet are still growing.
