Instead of dresses, my oldest has gravitated toward jumpsuits when she has to dress up. She’d love this cute smocked jumpsuit from J.Crew.
This jumpsuit features tie-shoulder straps, a fun polka dot print, and a cotton/linen blend fabric that’s perfect for warmer weather. For matching styles for mom, check out their Mini Me Shop. Options include a cap-sleeve top and more!
J.Crew’s Girls’ Smocked Jumpsuit is on sale for $44.50 (originally $79.50) and comes in sizes 2-14.

How much do you put in your kids’ Easter basket from the Easter bunny? When I was a kid we got presents (e.g. a Lego set or a doll’s outfit) in addition to chocolate, where as in my husband’s family they just got candy. We have a 3 year old son so this will be the first year he really understands the Easter bunny and I’m wondering what other families do. He has lots of toys and his birthday is coming up in a couple months so doesn’t need more things, but I want to make the holiday special.
How long does a kids checkup usually take at your pediatrician? I feel like mine is excessively slow, (we’ve been here for an hour, still no doc)but maybe I’m just impatient?
Wanted to share in case this was helpful for anyone else doing summer clothes shopping…my 9yo is just starting to care about what she wears but doesn’t really like in-store shopping (nor do I). So I’ve been opening up a clothing app on my phone, selecting her size, and having her go through and “favorite” items she likes (most apps seem to have a “favorite” option). So far we have done Target (restricting to Target-brand clothes) and H&M. Then I order a subset of her favorited items based on what she actually needs/what is practical. She is SO excited when they arrive! Last time I even got an impromptu fashion show…
My 5 year old has been having some pretty extreme emotions lately and in general we’ve had a lot going on in the emotional department. Our 12 year old dog passed away unexpectedly last week. She is very anxious about being leaving preschool at the end of the summer for elementary school. We also have a very active and clingy 15 month old toddler at home. So naturally she gets jealous and frustrated when he needs attention. One of my parents had a pretty big health emergency recently and I will need to leave for a couple of days next week to visit them.
She has cried off and on all day long at school the entire week. Based on how this morning went, I assume today will be the same.
We’ve been trying to talk her through her feelings. We’ve been doing special things for her. My husband surprised her with flowers, a card, and treats the other day. I’ve been planning special 1-on-1 time. The teachers are keeping me looped in that she’s been very sad all week and are doing their best to try to support her. We’re talking so much crying that other moms from her class have been texting me asking if she is okay.
I’m not sure what else to do and I’m exhausted. Any tips? Suggestions? Do I just accept this is a stage we are in?
Happy Friday! Looking for slip-on sneakers for my daughter, size 13. We have Kiziks right now and I’m not thrilled with how well they held up for the price we paid. The Target/Cat & Jack ones we used to buy seem to not be available. Any recs?
My 7 yo son is very upset about going to spring break camp this week. Every time there is a school break and we don’t go on vacation (we go 75% of the time, too) he throws these fits about staying home and how much he doesn’t want to go to camp. I am only having him do camp 3 out of the 9 days he is off but he is still talking nonstop about how annoyed he is about those 3 days. I don’t know what to do… I suppose we could hire a sitter for camps but they are so unreliable and it a PIA to arrange if it’s not something consistent . Maybe it is bc he is my Covid kid who grew up with us/ a nanny and didn’t do a bunch of group settings like my oldest, but he generally hates group settings and just want to chill at home all day. Any advice on how to handle?
