Instead of full coverage foundation, I prefer the translucent finish of these foundation drops.
These foundation drops provide light, buildable coverage so you can see your skin rather than hide it. Breathable pigments provide a dewy, natural finish while proprietary ingredients improve your skin over time.
Victoria Beckham’s The Foundation Drops are $110 at Nordstrom and come in 18 shades (although it looks like several are currently out of stock).

I may post tomorrow if no one is reading this late today… Can I get help with the timing of a preschool-aged playground birthday party? It’s going to be in the morning and the birthday kid definitely understands the concept of cake and singing so that is an imperative part to them. Do we do it ~9-10:30 with bagels and fruit? If so, will all the parents hate us if we still do cake without having served lunch? or later in the morning but have pizza delivered (with cake after that) – and if so what time?
UCSD published a report stating that for their 2025 freshman class, one in twelve students cannot meet *middle school* math standards, despite completing all of the requirements for admission. Link to follow. Reading the background section (starts page 6) is sobering.
How often do you wear makeup? I have hereditary dark undereye circles so I feel most confident when I wear unereye concealer, and then I have to wear a tinted moisturizer or else the concealer looks odd. And then some sort of pigmented lip gloss, blush and mascara. I usually wear makeup at work or if I am meeting up with someone I know, like a friend or another mom for a play date. However, most of the other moms don’t seem to wear makeup for play dates, and the women in my office don’t wear makeup. I am in an LCOL area in the Midwest if it matters.
Another illness gripe. My kids are much older now, so we don’t have the daycare germs. You know what has invaded my house? Getting sick more often since my kid started high school. Ya’ll, teens can be gross, too. Even if they stay in their rooms when they’re sick, they’re also using the kitchen and remote controls and everything else. It’s not the same hit in terms of time off, not even comparable, but I do feel like I’ve gotten viral illnesses a lot more in the past couple of years and am thoroughly tired of it. Last week, several practices were canceled because so many students were sick, so I don’t even know how to avoid this.
My kindergarten son has been acting like a teenager lately – talking back, refusing to do simple chores (like washing hands), and threatening to act out (like steal the TV remote, refuse to play with me). I can’t identify a specific trigger like school, sleep, or hunger. Could it be the lack of daylight and outdoor play? Or is this a common thing at 5.5?
I was talking to my husband last night about how being sick all the time from daycare compounds in so many ways – we’re getting constant germs so we miss more work. We miss more work so we have to make up time where we can, which cuts into free time at home. We can’t go to the gym with a raging infection, so we lose the fitness gains we were finally clawing back. We have more urgent care visits and purchases of medications, which increases our spending. We have to prioritize taking care of our little guy and the house (and our diets) go to sh!t. It’s a ton hitting our lives all at once.
Has anyone found any way to stem the losses I’m talking about? One thought I had is that even when we’re pretty sick, it could be very worth it to spend the full 10 minutes cleaning up the kitchen and house each night to “reset” it better for the next day – it’s a drag if we can only partly do the job and then it just feels like another mess to clean. On the workout and diet front, I’m not so sure what I can do. Obviously things like bagged salads can be good in a pinch, but they’re also not what I reach for when I have norovirus or a terrible sore throat. I would love any ideas you have for making the endless parade of illnesses have less of an impact on our family.
Hope everyone is having a safe snow day. Shout out to the commenter last week who wondered if all the panic buying of egg, milk, and bread was for emergency French toast. That comment made be chuckle all weekend.
