November is turtleneck time!

Gap’s Featherweight Turtleneck is the layering basic you’ll find yourself buying in multiples. This soft, stretch-cotton/modal turtleneck is thin enough to fit under blazers and sweaters but substantive enough to wear on its own.

This turtleneck is $27 on sale (down from $34.95) and comes in sizes XXS-XXL as well as tall and petites. It comes in a dozen colors.

are those bean bag chairs that serve as stuffed animal storage comfortable to sit on? and do your kids end up taking out all the stuffies all the time to look for a particular item, or the stuffies stay in the bean bag? our house is overflowing with stuffies and my kids want bean bag chairs, so was thinking this could be a good solution?

Any tips for adjusting back to a regular diet as I stop breastfeeding? I was eating a lot, and high calorie items, because I could never get enough in the throes of nursing. Now I’m scaling down significantly and need to reign in my diet. Should I just accept I’ll be hungry during the transition?

Hello! Non-mom here. A close friend is having her first baby, and lives in a 3rd floor walk-up apartment in Brooklyn (I live elsewhere). She had lived there about 2 years, so somewhat new to NYC life. What advice/practical gift ideas do you have for her as a new mom in the city?

Any gift ideas for a 3YO girl? She enjoys a lot of hand-me-downs from her 5 YO brother, so she already has a scooter, bike, doll house, magnatiles, duplos, etc. Second child combined with a late November birthday with Christmas to follow makes it rough to come up with original ideas.

My baby turns 1 on thanksgiving this year, and we’ll be at DH’s aunt’s house with DH’s parents and brother. On a scale from stick a candle in the pumpkin pie at thanksgiving dinner to holding a separate birthday party on Friday or Saturday, how much should we celebrate?

My toddler has the habit of trying to scratch my face. It happens maybe 4 or 5 times a week. I originally thought it was a phase, but she doesn’t seem to be growing out of this — it’s been happening for about 6 months, starting around 20 months. About half of the time, I’m able to catch her arms before she gets to my face and tell her no. So far, the things I’ve tried when I can’t stop it are (1) always telling her no and that hurts mommy, (2) stop playing with her and removing myself for a few minutes when it happens, (3) getting an ice pack to show that it causes me pain, and (4) reading books about not hitting people.

Any other ideas? I’m getting really sick of this. Yesterday, she managed to scratch my face right by my eye and I had to remove myself from the room because I was starting to get angry (which I don’t like as my response).

Do any of you use an app or website to aggregate gift ideas for your kids for family members? I used amazon when it allowed outside links. Last year I used giftster but it was just okay…
