Take cords to the office with this trouser version from J.Crew.

These mid-rise trousers have a pleated front and wide leg. The “velvety corduroy” fabric also has a subtle sheen that sets it apart from your more casual cords. Play with texture by topping it with a silky dress shirt or an intricate knit.

J.Crew’s Essential Trouser in Velvety Corduroy is $178 and comes in smokey taupe (looks brown on my screen) and bright navy. It’s available in sizes 00-24 as well as petites and tall.

Favorite non-candy items for trick or treaters? This is our first year with a LO and we’re handing out duckies. We couldn’t think of anything else for the baby to preschool age range. I’m curious what others are doing!

That realization as a mom that there’s never going to be that mythical day when “I have better energy” or “am better rested” or “when things chill out.” It’s so challenging to learn how to do the things you enjoy doing when you’re much more tired than you used to be! It’s been worth it to make the effort but man, that’s something that’s not talked about enough – that you have to make yourself do things, even when you feel 50%, if it’s something important to you.

What is the deal with Needoh? My 8 year old is begging for one for Hanukkah (she says “I’m the only person in my class without a Needoh!!!!!” yeah right…) but to me it seems like it’s just a ridiculously expensive squish, of which she has approximately a million. Does something make it actually worth the cost or is it just the brand name?

Help me feed my child who just got a mara device with top plate! She does not like soup, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, or pudding, all of which the orthodontist suggested. She is so uncomfortable and crying because she’s hungry but it’s too hard to eat much.

If asked who your favorite person is, who would you say? My kid asked me in front of my husband and I refused to answer- I said my whole family. He told me later he thought I should have said him because he would have said me. Frankly, he’s not my favorite person right now- he’s under a lot of stress and has been really short tempered and unpleasant to be around. Maybe historically I guess? But why can’t my kids be my favorite people too? When I was growing up my dad (while I’m sure he loved us) made it clear he saw us as competition for my mom’s affection, and I don’t want my kids to feel like that.

Hideous styling.
