I’m a big fan of Athleta. I wear Athleta for workouts, travel, and, yes, even to the office. You could say my love of Athleta is … endless. Especially their Endless High-Rise Pant (see what I did there?). It’s a washable, mid-weight, ankle-length trouser that’s somehow both comfortable and work-appropriate.

I’ve worn them in a range of sizes as my weight has fluctuated, and I’ve been happy with the look and fit across the board (although I do wish Athleta would offer more than just standard sizes for the petite length, but I guess that’s what iron-on hemming tape is for).

I think the pants match well with a range of shoes. My favorite pairing is a heavy-soled loafer, but I think they also look great with simple flats, and while I don’t wear heels, I think the pants could look great with those, too. I’ve worn mine with lightweight, slouchy blouses under a structured blazer, and I have them in multiple colors — although I generally stick to black when I wear them to the office.

Admittedly, I wouldn’t recommend wearing them to court or other situations where a suit would be expected, but for business casual offices, or non-client-facing days, the Endless Pant is a great option.

The Endless High-Rise Pant is $79.99-$109 at Athleta (some colors are on sale) and available in 0-26, 0P-14P, and tall sizes 0-16.

On the topic of potty training– my daughter refuses to poop on the potty. She has done it in the past, so I know she can do it. Now it’s an epic battle with lots of tears and inevitably ends up with her asking for a diaper. I’ve tried every trick in the book. Stickers, treats, watching her favorite show. Everything. Do I wait this one out? She is 3, she will be 3.5 in October…maybe a switch will flip soon? She does go to school and gets lots of help with potty training, but I think she must be holding her poop until she gets home. This is maddening, especially because she has pooped on the potty in the past.

Talk to me about potty training. My 3 year old son is resistant and we’re coming to a bind – we need him potty trained to start preschool in Sept. We started trying just before his 3rd birthday with the long weekend no-pants and he just didn’t seem to have the physical awareness. We’ve tried every few months since then but over time he’s become resistant to the idea. At this point I think physically/conceptually he gets it but absolutely does not want to. We’ve tried bribery (iPad & m&ms) to no effect and let it drop again. I don’t want (and, frankly, can’t) force him. I’m just not sure how to approach it at this point.

Speaking of dinners, what’s on the menu at your house tonight? Or this week?

Just a vent. We are currently visiting family in Maryland outside of DC and my kids were super excited to visit the Washington Monument (they learned about it in school last year and we tried to go when we were here in December but of course the kids got sick). I set an alarm to remember to look for tickets two months ago, got tickets to go up and woke up to an email that the monument is unexpectedly closed today. Grrr

any folks on here who own a vacation home/weekend house as we call them in NYC? pros, cons, regrets, hopes? Having a home outside the city has long been a dream of mine but my husband has zero interest. Curious if I can persuade him…eventually…

For the poster asking yesterday about super quick dinners, here are mine:
Smitten kitchens quick pasta and chickpeas (I add rosemary in the beginning and skip the finishing oil- so quick and my whole household loves this)
Hotdogs pimped with whatever the fridge contains ( I’ve done some avocado, mayo, tomato and pesto ones that were really good)
Tuna salad
Pasta with store bought pesto, serve with either roasted asparagus, roasted chickpeas or some cherry tomatoes and mozzarella balls on the side. I use barilla whole grain spaghetti
Those Greek giant white beans in tomato sauce in a can. Crumble feta on top, some tomatoes, shove in the oven, serve with bread.
Smitten kitchens my favourite lentil salad
Budget Bytes hearty black bean quesadillas
Happy lazy summer cooking! :-) lazy cooking is my favourite in this stage of life

We are sleep training our 7 month old with the help of a certified specialist. He is doing great with naps, he is sleeping through the night — but, when we put him down for bed, he vomits on purpose to bring us back into the room. (I’m leaving out the details, but both me, DH, and the specialist agree it is on purpose.) We go back in, keep lights low, minimal eye contacts or speaking while we clean him up and the crib, and then we put him back to bed. He cries another 20 and then sleeps. This has happened 8 out of the last 9 nights.

Please, please, please – anyone with experience and advice? We are feeling defeated.

Any favorite Instagram parenting accounts? BusyToddler just posted some stories that resonated with me and is always my favorite and it prompted this question.

How much did you fund your kids’ 529 plans when they were still babies? We have a bit of extra cash right now but we haven’t yet mapped out how much to contribute over time or what our goals are (pay for public, etc). We also don’t know anything about his aptitude or interests, obviously. We wouldn’t want to overfund if it makes more sense to keep the money in flexible accounts. Any advice?

When did you move your kids from a high chair to a booster seat for meal times? Any recommended ones?
