I find that primer plus a light dusting of setting powder like this one keeps my makeup from melting off my face by lunchtime.
This translucent powder sets makeup for up to 18 hours while blurring fine lines and pores. It subtly color corrects, brightens skin, and highlights your face. Ingredients include vitamin E for moisture, rice starch powder to absorb oil, and micronized powder to allow layering without caking.
Huda Beauty’s Easy Bake Loose Baking & Setting Powder is $39 and comes in nearly a dozen hues. Some are also available in a mini size.

I’ve been a lurker but this weekend I found out that I am pregnant! We have been trying for 6 months and I’m a little freaked out already.
Gross post but we’re on day 3 of a Miralax clean out and I’m losing my mind. Both from the mess and from going stir crazy. Today I’m trying to work and the general level of screen time in this house has been unhinged.
I just discovered that my 4 yo can only hop on one side, and not on the other. I tried to teach him to skip, and he just hops on the same side over and over. Our pediatrician is not great at the developmental side of things (they function more like an urgent care), so I need to do some research on my own. But I don’t even know what to google? Has anyone dealt with something like this?
I think I want to embrace the ridiculous look and get a long-sleeved, long-pant rashguard/swimsuit for my toddler. Any recommendations?
Do I need to bring a booster or carseat for a 6 year traveling to NYC? We will cab or take car service between LaGuardia and our hotel, and probably subway or walk most of the rest of the trip. TIA!
My newly turned 6 year old has so much attitude lately. Everything is an argument and then I get frustrated and shout. It’s the classically annoying yes it is, no it isn’t, yes it is over and over and over about the most trivial things but I find myself getting sucked in. Any tips for dealing with this? He’s being contrarian and difficult just for the sake of it, and it’s driving me nuts.
Normally he’s pretty chill but lately when he’s tired or not getting his way its a constant argument loop that I can’t remove myself from which I’m sure is part of the problem.
What consequences do you use for not picking up toys? I try to go with the natural consequence for an action, but haven’t figured out one for leaving toys all over the living room floor. Has it changed with age?
Y’all, I just have to tell someone — my oldest is finally night trained!! It’s been a week of no night diapers and no accidents. So excited to be here.
Took my toddler to a beach where you can actually wade in for the first time (as opposed to our other NorCal rough surf beaches we walk the bluffs on) and he absolutely loved it. Such a fun moment for me to see him losing it with happiness as older boys around us messed around on boogie boards having a blast – I can see the future and I’m looking forward to it!
We are trying to clean out and redesign the kids’ playroom, which is full of stuff they’ve mostly outgrown, and I am really struggling with when to donate and when to toss. For example, the old basic plastic kitchen, which my MIL picked up at a yard sale 12 years ago, and has endured heavy play, is still fine, but shows some wear and needs a good wash, and probably cost under $50 brand new. But it seems so hard to just throw it away, you know? There are a hundred other similar examples, and it’s making this project nearly impossible.
(TBH, I’m struggling with the whole thing, that they’ll never again be the sweet little kids tossing plastic food together and insisting I taste their delicious soup. But I know I have to make peace with that.)
How do you decide what is and is not good enough to donate?
