When did Mango start making maternity wear? I wish I had options like this crepe cotton top when I was expecting.
Made from a light, cotton-blend, crepe fabric, this textured top is a step above your basic white tee. You’ll wear this shirt through all nine months. Wear it now on its own and later as a layering piece once summer melts into fall.
This top from Mango is $35.99 and comes in navy or off-white. It is available in sizes S-L.

Ugh I’m so upset, our basement freezer broke! And it’s been broken long enough for all the contents to come to room temperature, so probably at least a few days. I guess it got fried during a power surge. Is there anyway to prevent this in the future? Do we need an electrician to make sure our basement outlets are protected enough?
can i just say that i hate how every time i fill out certain types of medical forms for my kids they ask if they were formula or br*st fed, and how they were delivered, etc. i understand that there is a correlation between some of these things, but way to make me relive one of the hardest periods of my life and keep the mom guilt going.
My daughter has done swim lessons through a national organization operated by a local high school swim coach for the last 1.5 years. It’s been great for her. The local coach leading it has abruptly quit the national organization and started his own lessons – same date, time, price, and format as before. Naturally it would be easiest for us to continue with this coach, but I feel a bit guilty about it since I think the coach basically just got greedy and decided to cut out the middleman taking whatever percentage of the lesson fees they take. He’s taking the national org’s unique lesson format + their client list. WWYD?
anyone else get nervous at the start of the new school year? my kids are nervous wrecks about finding out who their teachers are, which is making me a nervous wreck and of course DH is going to be traveling the day later this week when they find out who their teachers are AND for meet the teacher.
(we have twins, making all of these things extra complicated)
Considering a Costco half sheet cake for my son’s first birthday party! I’ve never actually tried one before, has anyone ordered one for a birthday party? Not looking to spend a fortune on a cake– and I’ve heard they are pretty good. We are doing a separate smash cake for him.
Any strategies for getting a kid to take a very bitter liquid medicine? We’ve been mixing it in a cup of chocolate milk, but that’s not sufficient for the increased dose. (Long term goal is being able to swallow pills, but we’re not there yet despites lots of attempts, though happy to also hear about tricks there that we might not have tried yet!)
Does anyone actually wear polymer sculpted jewelry? Just wondering because I watch a ton of reels of the process, but I have never seen anyone wearing them IRL.
I am throwing my husband a birthday cocktail party at our house. We’re in our 40s but I’ve never thrown like a “fancy” party here. Probably relevant, we are not fancy, but we live in a fancy neighborhood, i.e. some portion of the guests are fancy. I’m thinking we’ll hire a bartender, but just do drop off catering and put out some platters/trays – is that okay? Or should I do servers too? do I need rental glassware or will people be ok with plastic?
alternatively, anyone have any favorite books, websites or podcasts about entertaining?
Is anyone else getting this “verifying you are human” message?
Hi all – anxious mom reporting here. I just want to say I am SO HAPPY I started the SSRI. We had an awesome family vacation, and today my youngest started PreK-4 at his preschool and instead of thinking in deficits, I could only think about how far we’ve all come. Thanks to this wisehive for the support!
I am building a “road trip bag” for my kids — toys/etc that we only break out for long (3+ hour) road trips. What are your biggest road trip hits?
My bigger kids (7 and 9) spend 75% of the time reading (thank goodness they don’t get carsick) but also need some fun stuff to break up the monotony. And then there’s the 3.5 year old, who is…a 3.5 year old.
I tried Googling but it’s all stupid sponsored posts and affiliate links and I don’t believe a word of it. My one caveat is that the toddler tends to get frustrated with drawing/markers because she inevitably drops them.
BTW thank you for whoever recommended Hatchet as an audiobook last week. I listened to it with the big kids on a trip this weekend and they were very into it (and also terrified; I had to reassure them multiple times that it all turned out okay).
I know several books have been written in recent years about the needs of young boys in education and social life. Are there any you would recommend?
My 6 year old consistently wakes around 530 most days. He falls asleep quickly at 7 pm, but even if we push bedtime to 730 or 8 pm, the wake time is consistent. He doesn’t bother anyone and plays quietly in his room until 630 when our hatch turns to wake up time, but I’m worried he’s not getting enough sleep. I do notice a positive difference in behavior and focus when he wakes up after 6 pm. Anything we could do to help him sleep in a little more?
What kinds of clothes are you buying your 7-8 year old girls for back to school? I still buy most of my rising second grader’s wardrobe at Target and Old Navy but we do a trip to the “fancy mall” right before school starts for a few special pieces and I’m looking for inspiration.
