Drizzly rain transforms my normally straight hair into frizz. This styling cream looks like it’ll keep my blowout looking good in case I forget my umbrella.
This 3-in-1 styling cream smooths straight hair, preps blowouts, and defines natural curls. Just apply a small amount before or after blow drying depending on your needs. Commenters also love the scent! And, it’s a “Clean at Sephora” product.
dae’s Cactus Fruit 3-in-1 Styling Cream is $30 at Sephora. It also comes in a handy mini with a taming wand for all those little flyaways.

My 1st grader is friends with a set of twins. A has been in her class for the past two years and both A and B are in her scout troop.
My kiddo has been asking for a play date, but I can’t handle both of them- they fight like heck with eachother.
How do invite just one of them? “Kiddo would love to have a play date with your kiddos. Could we have A over this week and B over next week?” Does that work?
My first grader has a close neighbor friend (“A”) who was a classmate in preschool and K. They’re not classmates this year, but still see a lot of each other due to proximity and the fact that the mom and I are friendly. My daughter’s other BFF from K (“B”) is in her first grade class and they’re still very close. We got invited to a Halloween party/trick-or-treating event at B’s house. We’ve trick or treated with A’s family the last couple of years and although we hadn’t formally discussed it, I think both families assumed we were going together again. Normally, I’d ask B’s family if we could include A (this is a very casual get together, it doesn’t seem like a big deal to add one more kid) but A can be quite possessive of my kid and it’s caused a lot of friction between A and B. My kid is close with both but I don’t think they play together as a trio any more, and I doubt B wants A there. And I feel awkward explaining to A why we can’t go because it’s not like my kid is hanging out with some random kid A doesn’t know, it’s ostensibly a mutual friend (they were quite a tight trio in K).
I know the answer is probably just give my kid both options and let her choose. Is that right? Fwiw, I’m 90% sure she’ll pick A and while that’s easier in many ways (A is physically close, I’m closer with A’s mom), I find A’s possessiveness a little off-putting and am a little worried if my daughter continues being loyal to A, she’ll end up with no other friends. Maybe that’s a lesson she has to learn the hard way though.
How much time do your kids spend outside on a regular school day? Here in big Midwest town at public school the instruction is 7 hours with 30 min time outside. Not enough for my 7 year old active boy. How do you fit time outside during the week? On the weekends we try to be outside at least 2-3 hours per day.
My daughter needs some shoes. We are stuck on what to look for- she’s a kids size 3 (adult size 5). NOT sneakers or boots/booties. What are other options for fall for a 9 year old?
This is a very specific complaint, but my city has 3 school districts and they each have a different fall break, and none of them are the same week as the local university fall break. Every week from now until the end of October some school/university is on break, and it’s hard to keep track of which activities follow which school calendars. I don’t understand why they can’t sync up!
Cross posting from the regular site. Has anyone ever adopted a child as a single woman? Or do you know anyone who has? What was your experience like? I’m interested in adopting a baby, and from what I’ve gathered I’ll need to go through a private agency as my state will only adopt if you foster first, but the ultimate goal of fostering is to reunite the child with their original family. So it seems that private adoption agencies are best for those who 100% know they want to adopt. I have a steady, but flexible job with the federal government, I have a stable home, and I have a great support system in my parents and siblings (who all live in my city).
My soon to be 5 year old and his friend/neighbor (also 5) are incredibly mischievous when they’re together. They go into rooms they’re not supposed to (workbench), taken out messy things without asking, they run back and forth between houses (we hammered street safety to them and they are good on this front), dig and play pretend, drag everything out, and all that comes with two 5 year old boys playing. . but this weekend, they scratched one of our cars and put a stick in the gas tank. We hit a new level of frustration with them, and we mutually agreed with the parents to set some hard and fast rules for these two when they’re together, that apply at both houses, or else they don’t play.
What sort of rules would you consider adding to this list?
Does anyone have good rain boots to recommend for a toddler? Wondering if I should get the cheap ones from Walmart or something better quality. We live in a cold climate, so in two months we’ll need to transition to snow boots, but she plays at the park after daycare almost every day and it’s getting muddy out there.
How long would you stick with an activity that your toddler is expressly not enjoying?
My 4 year old recently started gymnastics. She expressed hesitation and dislike of the class after just two sessions. This past Saturday was her third session and she refused to join the class when we arrived at the gym saying that gymnastics is “not fun”. We ended up leaving after her refusal escalated into a full-blown tantrum. She would be happy to never return to gymnastics, but I am wondering if I should make her stick with it for awhile and in time, she would enjoy it more. What have you done in similar situations with your child in activities that are supposed to be just for fun, but the child does not seem to like them? Do you move on to something else or keep trying it out for awhile? TIA!
Where is everyone? Did everyone have a good weekend?
