If you need a gift idea for a 5-year old girl – I gave a bead kit from Michaels that included pony beads and letter beads and it was apparently a huge hit. (I think Target has some similar bead kits.) Birthday girl has been inviting friends over to make bracelets. I included bracelet charms, plastic bracelets for her to put the beads on, and a personalized pouch from Etsy for finished creations.

Do you have tips for traveling with baby formula? Not necessarily worried about taking it on the plane, but like are there good solutions for taking powdered formula with you without having to bring the original container? We’re going to visit in-laws for a 4-day trip. Thanks!

MILESTONE: all three kids got flu shots this weekend without a single tear/protest! I had them all pick out a treat to take with them to eat immediately after, and they were in and out without a peep. Hopefully it will go just as well when we go back for Covid shots next week (annoyingly our pediatrician didn’t get them in until today). I don’t do a ton of bribing but when it works, it really works. Thanks, Doritos and gummy bears!

Our terrible old apartment has electric baseboard heaters and we’re struggling with how to babyproof them. At least two need to be babyproofed for sure – one is in his room and one is in the living room/hallway area where it absolutely cannot be blocked off by furniture. It seems that most baseboard covers you can buy online aren’t designed for electric because it gets so hot (duh, that’s why I need a cover!) and even the ones that are still warn that the covers get super hot so stay away from them! Between that and the razor-sharp corners on these things, I’m not sure what to do. My frustration living here grows daily but we’re probably weeks away from getting DOGE’d and not sure if we can try to move. Has anyone come up with any solutions that work for these?

What are some fun activities you have done or appreciated at a mostly-adults party but with a good number of kids of varying ages? We’ll set out an art table with paper and markers and are also planning on putting on a movie for kids who want to watch. Weather is cool fall (upper 50s) so my original plan of setting out a bunch of lawn games is not likely going to work once the sun goes down.

I was off work for the holiday yesterday, and I’m beating myself up for “wasting” the day, because I didn’t do anything seasonal or adventurous. I truly didn’t want to. But could you all remind me that taking all the kids to the doctor, baking a cake together, and all the usual daily and weekly chores are more than enough to fill a day? I am judging myself as if I laid on the couch vegetating, when I really didn’t.

To the poster yesterday with the unpredictable periods… Period underwear has been a game changer for me. The ones I use COUPLED with tampons are supposed to hold like 7 tampons. That is not accurate; however, they do a way better job catching leaks than a pantyliner with way less bulk than a pad. They work fine on lighter days alone.

They also work great absorbing any, ahem, other types of leaks if say your kiddos want you to join them on a trampoline or you have a jump-y exercise class. I wear knix.
