I have never been a person who can be trusted with expensive sunglasses. I’ve owned two pairs of designer sunnies in my entire life. One was lost almost immediately after purchase and the other recently kicked the bucket after nearly a decade of my neglectful handling.
My sister-in-law introduced me to Goodr a few years ago after she bought a pair for outdoor exercising, and they’ve been my go-to brand ever since. They’re non-slip, polarized, and extremely well-priced. I can also confirm that they hold up pretty well even when you routinely throw them into a bag without any kind of case.
My current favorite is this all-black version, designed for “bigger noggins,” but they come in all kinds of colors and sizes. My current collection includes white, hot pink, and purple pairs.
The sunglasses are $35 at Goodr, and they’re also available to order with prescription lenses.

I’m a million years pregnant and just want to scream into the void for a minute. I’m so tired of people telling me, get some sleep while you can! Including women!!! Have you ever known a full term pregnant woman who is sleeping well??? Harumph.
I have another clothing Q. My rising 2nd grade girl has never worn jeans. She prefer dresses and skirts with shorts or leggings underneath but also sometimes wears leggings as pants (especially in the winter with a longer sweater). I’m in her K-3 school quite a bit and don’t think her clothing is unusual. I see jeans, especially among the second and third graders, but still see lots of leggings-as-pants too. A friend whose oldest is an infant was kind of shaming me and telling me it’s really weird she doesn’t wear jeans. This friend can be a bit judgy and also doesn’t really know any 7-8 year old girls, so I wanted a gut check from here.
A very genuine and non-snarky question reading the responses to CB UK’s question. Why do you care a lot about what your kids wear and have those rules?
I’m the anon with the controlling Mom who now lets her daughter wear whatever she wants. My Mom has early onset dementia so I can’t ask her what she was thinking/feeling when I was growing up and I’m very curious about what values people are raising their kids with.
Planet box or lunchbots?
Our bento style boxes (clearance at home goods 8 years ago, Sistema brand) have given up the ghost. Strong preference for metal so looking at these options?
A question inspired by a query from my mom:
How much do your kids care about what they wear? How old are they? Where does the care come from (what’s trendy, sensory, preferred brands and colours)?
And the reverse, how much do you care about what your kids wear (brands, quality, colours, etc).
Like many moms, I feel so sad about Camp Mystic. I’ve also participated in some of the swimming safety discussions we’ve had here in the last few months. One news article stuck with me in reporting that campers in one cabin had to swim to safety for in the dark for at least 10 minutes. Obviously this is a huge difficulty and the article wasn’t clear on if that whole cabin survived. It’s grim but it made me think again of how important STRONG swimming skills are. In this crazy world we live in with frequent disasters and climate change worsening weather everywhere, maybe the swimming is more important than ever for safety and not just recreation. That said, I’m in no way victim blaming – it’s an absolutely heartbreaking tragedy and there were likely some very strong swimmers who didn’t make it.
I’m just entering the birthday party years (oldest is 3), and so far things are not going well. So far he’s had a potty accident, stuck his finger into the side of a cake, and had a 30 minute kicking screaming meltdown because he wasn’t allowed to play with the shiny new toys.
We have another party tomorrow, although hopefully more chill. What are your best survival tips?
I may be stirring the pot a bit from yesterday, but why do people want to visit new moms in the hospital anyway? The entire time I was in the hospital after delivering my kids I was either sleeping, trying to nurse/bond with the baby, filling out paperwork, or talking to nurses/getting my blood pressure taken. I had no time to socialize with anyone (much less brush my hair!). Is it an outdated expectation from when mothers spent several days in the hospital, rather than 48 hours?
