Ugh, I just got a notice that they are going to transition my toddler up to the next classroom starting in a week. I think it’s only her and one other kid moving up, and her two closest friends will not be moving at this time (but I’m double-checking).
My problem is that I’m pregnant and due in mid-April, but wouldn’t be surprised to give birth the last week of this month. So this classroom move (that I just learned about) will be happening at basically the same time as everything changes for her at home. I’m really annoyed by the short notice and about the timing of this move.
How do you tell someone who has said they are overwhelmed and need to pull back from a volunteer project that it’s totally fine and actually preferable for them to pull back? I’m one of three leaders in a volunteer organization and leader A has disappeared a few times only to pop back up with an apology and now, a request for some space and time. Leader B and I would actually prefer A to totally step back because the not knowing if A is going to attend, if A has gotten supplies, if A is handling this correspondence, etc. is very stressful to us type-Aers and requires us to shift our schedules on short notice. Knowing that A is sensitive right now, how we do we tell A “no, really, please take a total hiatus?”
Might ask next week to get more eyeballs, but my 7 year old is an advanced reader, which is great, but is increasingly wanting to act out the middle school drama she is reading about in her second grade life, which is not great. I hate to restrict her reading, so does anyone have any suggestions for advanced second grade reading that isn’t set in middle school, but somehow has similar vibes?
I am now getting the “you cannot vote for your own comment” error on every comment. I could vote yesterday with the same alias and e-mail address saved.
I know there are a lot of DMV residents on here- is it crazy to do a day trip to Hershey Park from the Bethesda area? Not for the amusement park but more of the chocolate world. We visit family in the DMV area a lot and both DH and I have fond memories from visiting as kids but now live far away. I grew up in MD, and I think we one time did a day trip to Hershey, but my parents did slightly ‘insane’ road trips so I can’t judge by that. Thanks!
Crowdsourcing winter break ideas coming from Houston. This past December we went to an all inclusive in Mexico and had a blast, but are not sure that we are comfortable returning to Mexico at this time (which is a shame bc it’s such an easy trip for us). We would love something similar
Good travel vibes to everyone going on spring break this week! The crazy Midwest winds made for a rough morning at O’Hare, literally and figuratively, but we have a direct flight so at least we’re getting there today.
Hi, we are moving soon. It’s our first move with a toddler and I’m looking for any tips/recommendations/advice you have for making it as smooth as possible. In all of our prior moves I just accepted that there would be a certain level of chaos right up until moving day but now we are trying to balance getting everything ready with also having a very active and curious toddler underfoot 24/7. So far my plan is to give her age appropriate tasks as she is at the age where she loves to help, but obviously it’s still going to be hectic. Any pointers?
My husband has to have foot surgery next week and will be on crutches for the next several weeks – right over spring break. We canceled our trip but I’m struggling to come up with sedentary-ish activities to do as a family? DC area, I’m okay with driving a couple hours for a day trip but don’t have the energy to pack everyone up for a long overnight. We are going to the movies one day for a double feature and another day we will hang out at a bookstore and spend the afternoon reading. Kid is 11 and generally agreeable to anything we suggest. Help?
This one hits close to home. My kids attended a preschool at our synagogue. I’m so glad that no one was killed and none of the kids were harmed. Killing Jews on American soil will not ‘free Palestine’ or stop the conflict in Iran. I realize I should not read comments on Facebook posts or news articles, but it kind of makes me sick, sad and scared that people write things like Mossad was behind, etc.
Looking for some sleep help. My baby is 5.5 months and he goes to bed at 7, sleeps til around 11, has a bottle, sleeps til 2 and fusses and comes into mama bed, wakes around 4 or 5 for a bottle, and up for the day around 6/6:30. We share a room and I am not willing to do any crying it out. I could google this but I hate the whole baby sleep industry it really stresses me out so would love help from anyone who has gently reduced wakings.
I don’t think the AI model likes this dress.
