A woman wearing a blue printed long sleeve shirt dress

I’m loving prints like this pretty dress for easy fall dressing: in addition to adding personality to your 9-to-5 wardrobe, they camouflage wrinkles and stains better than solids.

This shirtdress is exactly what I’m looking for — made from an easy-care satin, this dress has a coordinating tie belt, stand collar, and side seam pockets. Add a jacket or cardigan depending on your office vibe and you’re good to go!

Nic+Zoe’s Blair Monogram Long Sleeve Shirtdress is $208 at Nordstrom and comes in sizes X-Small to X-Large and petites.

I usually can’t stand the pop-up ads here, but I just got one for Bluey baked beans from Bush’s.

My almost 6YO has started screaming “I hate my life” as a part of her temper tantrum when frustrated / mad / something does not go her way. Suggestions for parent scripts? Books?
We talk about gratitude and feelings when she’s calm. But gosh so darn difficult in the moment when a meltdown is in progress.

Question for the group – when do you say no to hosting people? Do you feel any guilt?

I’ll answer below.

I cannot find a place that offers a covid shot for my 20 month old anywhere within an hour drive if my house. I am LIVID. We’ve got some very sick family members that want to see the kids, and we can’t even take precautions without going on a road trip.

Does anyone have experiences with Mathnasium or Kumon? More curious about how you made the decision to enroll your kiddo. DD is in 2nd and 7 years old. She loves math and reading. I think she’s a stronger reader than she is in math (absolutely at grade level for both, and beyond grade level for reading for sure). We have both Mathansium and Kumon in our town and she’s specifically asked about Mathnasium as we drive by it daily, but don’t know anyone who goes.

Are they intended for getting ahead? Catching up? Either / or? Does it compliment or potentially complicate in-school learning? Really just wanting to learn more!

camp mystic announced it is reopening part of the camp next summer…and some parents are eager to send their kids. maybe because I do not have kids who attend the camp, and don’t understand the specialness and Christian values, but how can any parent send their kid back there?

chatter on my neighborhood facebook group about whether spouse and older brother need to sleep elsewhere if daughter is having friends sleepover. is this a thing now in your communities?

Funny reminder of data/ photo security: I sent a pic of my baby making a funny face to 3 friends. Friend’s kid tells me yesterday that sends the pic to her boyfriend when she gets overwhelmed/upset. And that, y’all, is how my baby ended up a meme halfway across the country…

I need some special earrings to wear with a plain cream dress I’m wearing to an upcoming fancy fundraiser event. Where should I shop?? Not looking to spend over $1k.

Speaking of TV, any can’t-miss things on Disney+ for elementary school age kids? We’ve had it for several years but between the Kimmel mess and the coming price increase I’m leaning towards not renewing it. We’ve seen most of the classic movies. Hamilton is on the to-watch list before our subscription expires.

My induction finally got scheduled for next week! I think I’m mostly ready but anything yall think would be helpful? I’ve got all the basics, a fan, snacks, pillow, blanket, comfy labor gown because the hospital ones are hateful. And I’m very ready to not be pregnant but it is wild to think this time next week I will be in labor after so many years of thinking I’d never have a baby.

I have a milestone birthday and we’re going on a trip for it. My kids are going to miss a couple days of school and I’m having guilt that I’m not having guilt about it. Like – I don’t pull my kids out willy nilly but also… our district has an absurd number of half days and my oldest kid has had a sub and been stuck doing busy work for 1/3 of the year and tests in the 99th percentile anyway…

With that being said, how do I word the note to my kids’ teacher that says ‘Hey, heads up Kiddo will be out Date and Date for a family obligation.’ Do I just say that? Am I overthinking this because I have a LOT of thoughts? (Yes.)

We talked books yesterday, can we talk TV today? Inspired by a kid home sick while I’m working. He doesn’t really watch a ton of TV and tends to default to Ninjago, Carmen San Diego, Kiki, and Deadly 60 but there must be other good TV out there. We watched KPOP Demon Hunters but he’s now gone off it because the songs are playing constantly in his classroom. What are your kids watching?

I didn’t get to it yesterday, but you were looking for chapter books with a sense of humor. The Iggy series by Annie Barrows was/is a favorite in our house when my oldest was 9 and now with my 8 year old (the audiobooks are fun, too.) She might also like Oggy Cooder, Oggy Cooder Party Animal, and Save Me a Seat, all by Sarah Weeks.
