The earthy colors of this sleeveless dress will take you straight into fall.

This sleeveless midi dress is made from stretchy, easy-care jersey fabric. Side-ruching creates a flattering fit-and-flare silhouette. For late summer, just add a light wrap and block heeled sandals. For fall, swap in a blazer and tall boots.

ME+EM’s Lace-Print Midi Dress is $345 and comes in sizes 0-12.

SAHMs, how did you decide to take the plunge and quit your job? I’ve been considering it for a while now, but I’m scared to go for it. Also, how did you change your budget and retirement planning when you quit?

Speaking of family money and first world problems…my in laws have offered us a generous gift towards a new home. The catch is that they want it to be a bigger place with a nice guest suite for them to stay when they visit, probably several weeks a year in the future. We were not looking to move and I think our current place meets our needs even though there isn’t much guest space. It feels like we’d be leaving free money on the table to not take it, but not sure the extra expenses (and strings) of a bigger home are worth it. Thoughts on how to approach this and decide how to move forward?

I know there has been discussion about getting ready for the school year so I will share my two tips that serve me well.

1. Absolutely NOTHING planned the weekend after the first week of school. Kids are exhausted, parents are exhausted. If you feel up for it in the moment, it’s fine to make plans or do activities. But give yourself the space to order pizza on Friday, curl up on the couch and let everyone rest as much as they need to.

2. Stock your freezer with easy-to-thaw components. For my house, I buy bulk packs of chicken and pork chops and cut them in strips or chunks, then wrap in freezer paper in meal-size portions. I buy a bag of onions and dice them in a food processor, then wrap in freezer paper one onion’s worth at a time. Ditto for celery and bell peppers. The vegetables thaw easily in soups with negligible impacts on taste. The meats are ready to thaw and turn into easy sheet pan dinners. (Did you know that you can put frozen meat into an Instant Pot, and that you can roast vegetables from frozen? Takes a few minutes longer but so easy.)

How do you teach kids to share? One of my kids is terrible at sharing. For example, if he is having ice cream and his brother wants to try a little, he will not let him. Or even the idea of sharing a big bucket of popcorn at the theater is upsetting to him.
