thank goodness my twins so far seem happy with the teachers they got. there were two teachers they both wanted (6 teachers total). Twin A got one of those teachers, and Twin B got a teacher who is new to the school, which she was first upset about (“But I don’t want a teacher who doesn’t know anything”) but is now ok. Twin A has many more friends in her class than Twin B does and Twin B has Twin A’s bestie from last year, who honestly was more of a bully than bestie, but Twin B doesn’t seem to care and Twin A isn’t thrilled, but will manage. I’m just glad Twin A’s besties are each in separate classes as well. Twin B complained she knows too many kids in her class bc she likes making knew friends. Ultimately, these are all life lessons and good things to learn to deal with, but there is whole other layer when you have two same sex kids in the same grade in different classes. Hopefully they are just as happy after we meet the teachers.
Reposting to ask the same question from yesterday – is anyone else listening to the Landlines podcast? Boston Legal Eagle weighed in. I’ve only listened to a few of the episodes so far as some have been about topics I’m not interested in. I agree that I can’t exactly relate to her life, but her friends are a little more relatable. I’m their age and I find them entertaining and similar to me, but I’m not really interested in them interviewing celebrities. I appreciated the candid conversation about trying to decide how many kids to have, but I did not agree with the others’ takes because they seemed biased toward having more than one child instead of truly listening to her perspective. That bias toward multiples, imho, was one of the downsides of the Mom Hour podcast and the associated fceb00k community… having lots of children and being SAHM + homeschooling is very much the vibe with the FB group which really turned me off of the pod.
Thank you all for your tips on hospital bags a few weeks ago! I’ve got it down to my diaper backpack and a large longchamp tote and feel good that it is a manageable amount of stuff.
Solo parenting two preschoolers this week including two different drop-offs, packing lunches, going to swim lessons, and getting myself put together to go into the office, where work is extremely busy and there is a lot of pressure to work longer than 8-5 hours, which I’m not doing. This is exhausting. This morning they were so difficult to get out the door that my adrenaline was going so hard and I bet my blood pressure was out of control. DH gets home tonight and I can work from home tomorrow, so I’m going to let him experience the solo parenting morning and I’ll go for a long walk until they leave. I know that sounds petty but I really have had it up to here. I’m looking for fully remote work, because the mornings are so much worse when I’m trying to get an outfit + full makeup + lunch together, but haven’t found anything that would be nearly as rewarding or well-paid as where I am now.
I had an unexpected full day home with my kids, and I can’t vent IRL but wow are they exhausting! There were good moments, and shoe shopping was successful. But dang! I’m kinda grateful to be back at work but my brain is too mushy to figure out what’s next.
Has anyone used the Little Spoon biteables meals for babies? We’re ready to be done with purees and not sure whether it’s worth it to continue the subscription.
My daughter is turning 3 soon. It feels too early to invite her daycare buddies, but it’s the first year she is really aware of her birthday. We typically have a small gathering with family, but she is the only kid her age – lots of doting uncles and aunts, but no cousins to play with. What can I do that’s fun for her? We will have cake, balloons, etc. We have a back yard and the weather should be nice – I could do a trampoline, kiddie pool or ball pit, but I’m not sure if she will have fun on her own. Any other fun suggestions for that age?
