I’m 5’3″ and wearing a size 16, plus I’m 4+ months along with my 2nd. So, feeling huge…
Anyway, I tried the C. Wonder sale that Kat posted about on the main site a week or 2 ago and got 2 XL sweaters. They finally came today and fit great for now, and probably for the rest of the winter. I hope to lose the weight, of course, but if not I can wear them next fall/winter and if so, maybe I can wear them with a belt. Is that something people really do? I don’t know. In case anyone is commenting today – I have a 1 year old (just turned one) who currently wears a size 2T. I’m thinking of buying snow gear for next year now that it’s all on crazy sale. Would you buy a 3T or 4T? I know they are supposed to slow down with the growing, but I don’t know how much to expect. Also, feel free to tell me this is a dumb idea and I should just wait until next fall.

I would wait, because I find growth unpredictable at this age. If you really want to, go for the 4T.

If she just turned one an already is in 2T, I would guess she will be in 3t next year, not 4t – but its hard to say. If its a crazy crazy good deal you could buy it and keep the tags on – you might be able to sell to a kids resale/consignment shop as “new with tags” and at least get your money back if it winds up being th wrong size next year.
My kids were always small and wore their age, so we had a 2T and 3T winter coat, then 2 years with 4/5 and 2 years with 6/7.

Had baby via disastrous c-section 5 weeks ago. Baby came out fine, I didn’t do so well. Doctor and I are satisfied I am fine. Baby is doing amazingly.
I’m scheduled to go back to work next week. Hubby will be with baby for the week. After then we have made arrangements for baby to go to daycare for almost three months. At that point a family member is expected to step in for 3 days of childcare and my work week will drop to 4 instead of 5 days a week as will husbands.
I’m getting a lot of side eye about going back to work so soon. I feel I have made appropriate arrangements for baby, husband is fine with arrangements and honestly baby sleeps from 9-5 waking to feed and is then pretty up the rest of the time. Since my husband left for work at 8 he’s been awake for feeding and that’s it.
Can someone reassure me that going back to work at 6 weeks and Childcare at 8 weeks is acceptable behaviour?

You do you. If you want/need to go to work, then do it. If you can’t/don’t want to – then find a way to bow out. I thought that after a C-section, FMLA gives you 8 weeks (but maybe FMLA doesn’t cover your employer?).
On daycare – it’s a little more difficult. Sending a very young baby into the petri dish of daycare germs makes me nervous; RSV is a guaranteed week-long NICU stay for a baby under 7 weeks, I think. Make sure your daycare gives babies that age a little extra cuddle time (my daycare actually held my baby while she slept at 3 months old, since she wasn’t a crib napper yet), and doesn’t leave them alone in bouncy seats all the time…otherwise, babies that age are really resilient and just kind of go along with whatever, so I wouldn’t worry about this being the topic of future therapy sessions!

And my work is the type that if nothing is going on I can leave and go home early- it’s not the most strict 9-5 kind of thing.

I may be posting too late, but: My parents, who are physicians (one of them an infectious disease specialist), sent me and my three siblings to daycare starting at six weeks, and we all did fine, health- and otherwise. Anecdata, of course, but I think daycares are pretty well regulated, the infant groups in particular. I wouldn’t be excessively worried, especially if the pediatrician doesn’t have any objections. And by the way, we all loved daycare, and when I run into my favorite teacher (Kelly), she still remembers me, three decades later. I will probably use a nanny for my kids because my husband and I work really odd, long, unpredictable hours, but if our lives were more normal, we would opt for daycare, no question. And as may be implied, my mom went back to work really soon after she had us — four weeks with me, maybe a bit longer with my sister, and she did rounds in the hospital while still checked in post-delivery with my brother. Again, we are all fine, and to the extent we have issues, it isn’t because she didn’t take a longer parental leave period postpartum. Babies need to be cared for, but they don’t necessarily need it to be their moms who are putting in the daytime hours. Do what makes sense for you, know that you can always change course, and good luck!

I went back to work at 6 weeks (my husband stays home with my son). Your husband will be fine with the baby, and it will be good for bonding. I was fine going back to work at six weeks, although I did have an easy delivery, and I felt physically normal at 2 weeks. I might have taken a longer leave if I had paid leave, but in a lot of ways things were better when I went back to work. When was I home, I had more patience to really have quality time with my son, and I really enjoyed the return to productivity from work. A lot of people have at least tried to make me feel bad for going back to work relatively early, and especially for wanting to. Many of my coworkers have taken 6-8 week leaves and put their baby in daycare at that time.

I had a bad delivery but I wanted to be working just after baby turned a month old. People seem to be going out of their way to make me feel bad about it.

I think no matter what you decide to do someone out there is going to disapprove and judge. Do your best to ignore what everyone else thinks. You are an adult woman and you are capable of making decisions about yourself and your child. Good luck!!!!

I went back a little later than you (at 8 weeks) but people gave me the side eye because I had 10 weeks of paid leave left and they didn’t understand why I would be back 2.5 months early. Kid went to daycare from my first day back. He got sick a lot (including RSV 3 months later and pneumonia 8 months later, neither resulting in a hospitalization, but both resulting in me using some of my remaining maternity leave). He’s 4 now and is perfectly fine and is very attached to me so it does not appear that starting daycare very young damaged our relationship, as my mother loved to tell me it would.
