Budget Thursday: Seamed Colorblock Dress

Society New York is one of Amazon’s fashion brands, and this machine washable dress looks like a great workwear piece. I like that it’s not too fitted — you don’t need to be Spanx-ed to within an inch of your life to wear it — but the shape is still flattering. I like that the colorblock pattern (also flattering) isn’t too Star Trek–y, as well. It’s gotten a couple of reviews so far, which are positive, and it’s eligible for Prime. Seamed Colorblock Dress

Accessory Tuesday: “The Point” Flat

I’ve been eyeing these cute flats from Rothy’s for a while now and I’m curious whether any of the readers have tried them. There are two styles, the Point and the Flat (which has more of a round toe), and they’re supposed to be like fancy ballet flats. They’re washable, made from recycled water bottles (and are recyclable), designed to be “blister-free,” and so on. We’re featuring these lovely, lipstick-red camo ones — I’m not usually a camo person, but this actually seems more like a fun snake print and not exactly camo. (Note that some colors will be retired soon.) They are a little pricey — $125 to $145. Rothy’s

A couple of flats that are more affordable and have fun prints are from Target and Sam Edelman at Zappos.

Budget Thursday: Lightweight Ponte Sleeveless Dress

This dress from Uniqlo comes in a dark gray, black, and a pretty rose. Note that this is not a jersey dress, and it’s a much lighter weight ponte than what you may be thinking of for a ponte dress, so keep that in mind. The reviewers say it doesn’t cling, though, which is always my primary thought when I’m considering a jersey or ponte dress. This dress is simple and classic, and it would make a great option for work. It’s machine washable, which is always nice, and it’s only $20, too. Lightweight Ponte Sleeveless Dress

Accessory Tuesday: Tali Bow Ballet Flat

I don’t think we’ve featured Cole Haan’s Tali shoes here before, although we’ve featured them at Corporette. They’ve been around forever and they’re still bestsellers for the brand. They come in little wedge heels as well as these ballet flats; sometimes they have a bow, sometimes they’re open-toed, etc. If you’re looking for a great, comfortable ballet flat, note that these are very highly rated at Zappos, where they have 205 reviews (71% of which are 5-star). They’re available in black, navy, beige, and an ivory/black print, and in sizes 5–11 in three widths. Right now they’re on sale at Zappos for $119, down from $170. You can also find them at Amazon, where there are tons of options, as well as NordstromCole Haan Tali Bow Ballet

Accessory Tuesday: Livi Heather Flat

I’m always impressed by how many great reviews Hush Puppies get on Zappos — I don’t think I’ve worn them myself since my grade school days! This flat looks kind of adorable, though, and I like the little folded detail at the front. It comes in four colors at Zappos in medium and wide sizes 5–12 for just $62, and it’s also available at Nordstrom and AmazonLivi Heather Flat
